Counseling Center

At the Columbia Counseling Center, Dr. Dale Keeton is available to see individuals, couples, and families with varying personal and relationship issues, as well as premarital counseling/enrichment.  He maintains working relationships with several psychiatrists who are available for support when medical evaluations might be necessary.

Members of CBC are offered significantly reduced fees for counseling services at the Columbia Counseling Center.  Dr. Keeton participates with several insurance companies which reduces the cost even further for those with coverage.

Dr. Keeton has been a practicing psychotherapist for more than 35 years.  He founded the counseling ministry at Columbia Baptist Church in 1971, the first of its kind in the Southern Baptist Convention.  In addition, he established a private mental health clinic which became a group practice with several locations and multiple therapists.  Having downscaled in recent years, he now has a solo practice with offices in Vienna as well as at Columbia Baptist Church.  The Columbia Counseling Center is on the second floor of the 301 building, across from Columbia @ Falls Church.  Appointments may be made by calling 703-715-6768.

Having received his Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Keeton has also done academic work at Texas Christian University in the field of psychology.  He has served on the adjunct faculties of the University of Virginia, James Madison University, and Virginia Tech.
Drawing on his many years of experience as educator, trainer, and clinician, Dr. Keeton is an energetic presenter/trainer who uses humor and anecdote to maintain a high level of interest and participation.  He has presented numerous seminars and workshops for churches, schools, and corporations, as well as the National Institutes of Health and the Department of the Army.  Topics generally center around communication and relationships in family or the work environment.
Dr. Keeton has been a member and held leadership positions in various professional organizations including The American Psychological Association, The Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and The American Counselors Association.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and an ordained Baptist minister.

He currently serves on the Advisory Board of HealthNet, the managed care company for Tricare which provides health services to military families.  He is also a founding board member for Birthmothers Ministry, a Christian agency providing support and guidance for women with unplanned pregnancies.  Most recently, Dr. Keeton has developed a strong interest in nutrition as it relates to mental health.
